Bio

Dr. Robert R. Romanofsky is a senior engineer in the Antenna, Microwave, and Optical Systems Branch at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio. His current research interests include cryogenic microwave electronics, thin-film ferroelectric technology, and phased-array antennas.

Dr. Romanofsky earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Pennsylvania State University, his master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Toledo, and his doctoral degree in electrical engineering from Cleveland State University. During 1990 and 1991, he served as program manager for Superconductivity and Radio Frequency Communications at NASA Headquarters in Washington, DC. Subsequently, he served a 3-month collateral assignment with the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.

Dr. Romanofsky has authored or coauthored over 75 refereed publications in the fields of microwave device technology, high-temperature superconductivity, and microwave applications of thin ferroelectric films. He coauthored the book Low-Temperature Electronics–Physics, Devices, Circuits and Applications (2000). He is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), holds five patents, and is a recipient of NASA’s Exceptional Service Medal and the Federal Executive Board “Wings of Excellence” award. In addition, he is a part-time professor at Cleveland State University.
