Dr. Félix A.
Miranda is chief of the Antenna, Microwave, and Optical Systems
Branch at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's Glenn
Research Center at Lewis Field in Cleveland, Ohio. His areas of
expertise include high-temperature superconductors, ferroelectric
tunable microwave components, and antenna technology and microwave
integrated circuits and devices for space and ground-based communications.
Dr. Miranda earned his bachelor’s degree in physics from
the University of Puerto Rico in 1983, his master’s degree
in physics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1986, and his
doctoral degree in physics from Case Western Reserve University
in 1991.
Dr. Miranda is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and
Electronics Engineers (IEEE). He is also a member of the American
Physical Society, the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers,
the Materials Research Society, and the Forum of Industrial and
Applied Physicists. He serves on the editorial board of the journal
Integrated Ferroelectrics. Dr. Miranda has authored or coauthored
more than 115 technical publications in his areas of expertise.
He has written several book chapters and is the co-inventor of four
U.S. patents, with one additional patent pending. He is a former
NASA Administrator’s Fellow and received the 2001 Outstanding
Technical Achievement Award from the Hispanic Engineer National
Achievement Awards Conference (HENAAC). Dr. Miranda joined NASA
Glenn in 1991.
