Satellite Networks &
Architectures Branch

Vision
Our vision is to enhance the role of space-based communications networks in the National and Global Information Infrastructure (NII/GII) to maintain the pre-eminence of the U.S. satellite communications industry and to enable NASA to fully utilize emerging global broadband satellite and hybrid networks for its communications needs.

Objectives
Key objectives of the branch are outlined below:
  1. Achieve seamless interoperability between satellite and terrestrial networks
  2. Study next-generation, space-based, highly interoperable NII/GII architectures
  3. Experiment on hybrid satellite network testbeds
  4. Develop critical pre-competitive satellite network technologies
