To: Authors for NASA's Satellite Networks Workshop (June 2-4) From: Richard Ziegfeld, workshop publications editor Topic: Issues related to workshop publications Date: May 7, 1998 This memo concerns 1) questions authors have asked; 2) requests we are making. PUBLICATION PRODUCTS: you have asked what we intend to publish. During workshop: photocopied abstracts Post-workshop: official NASA conference publication of presenter viewgraphs CONTENT OF CONFERENCE PUBLICATION: we will publish your viewgraphs exactly as you submit them. You do NOT need to write a paper. We will reduce viewgraphs and, as space allows, lay out 2-4 viewgraphs on each printed page. VOLUNTARY: we will publish viewgraphs that are available; if you choose not to submit a manuscript, you will not be under any pressure to do so CAMERA-READY: aside from reducing the viewgraphs, we will do not edit or clean up your product. This means that * Visuals should be pasted in the document at proper size and location * Visuals are of good quality & sufficient resolution to reproduce well * Type size, even in visuals, is large enough to be legible * Handwritten notes are not advisable because they are not professional * No page/sequence nos. should appear; we will paginate the manuscript QUANTITY: we will publish up to 20 viewgraphs for each presentation ON-SITE SUBMISSION: you may submit hardcopies of your 20 (or fewer) viewgraphs AT the workshop registration desk. ELECTRONIC SUBMISSION: beginning Friday, MAY 15, we will post a new section on the website main page that explains how to submit your viewgraphs electronically: it will be a link entitled "Information for Presenters". This email will also be available in that location. POST-WORKSHOP DUE DATE: if you are unable to submit your packet at the workshop, we will publish packets that are in hand Friday, June 19. ABSTRACTS AND TITLES: we are still missing some titles and abstracts. We need to hear from you as soon as possible to allow processing time before we copy the abstracts. We will publish those available on Friday, May 22. Here is a list of abstracts or titles I lack.
