Several contracts are underway to develop low-cost, compact monolithic microwave
integrated circuit (MMIC) transmit/receive modules. These modules will be integrated
into existing ACTS ultra small aperture terminals (USATs) to do technology
verification experiments (TVE) over ACTS.
These experiments include performance verification (bit error rate tests) and application
demonstrations (voice, video, and data transmissions) up to T1 (1.55 Mbps) rates.
Our goals are to demonstrate compact, high-performance, very low-cost Ka-band USAT.
