BIO

Douglas Hoder is a communications engineer in the Antenna, Microwave, and Optical Systems Branch at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio.

Mr. Hoder has worked as a RF and wireless design engineer for over 20 years, in such fields as television, cellular phones, satellite communications and aeronautical communications.

At NASA Glenn since 1990, he has worked primarily in satellite communications, including being the System Engineer for the Advanced Communications Satellite High Data Rate Program. He is currently engaged in a variety of programs concerned with RF propagation, timing and synchronization, lunar communications, and antenna development.

Mr. Hoder is the co-inventor of four U.S. patents, and has received awards from the White House, the Japan Ministry of Posts and Telecommunication, and Government Computer News. He is a member of the US Space Foundation Space Technology Hall of Fame.

Mr. Hoder earned his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Cleveland State University, his master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and a master’s degree in Mathematics from Cleveland State University.
